Scheme Outline

In this scheme you will constantly be using and developing your influencing, analytical and communication skills.  You will be working with external suppliers across the country and sometimes internationally across a huge number of different commodities, anything from Lettuce, Prawns, Oils to Packaging items. 

This is a highly commercial and business oriented role that will test your commercial awareness, resilience and influencing skills.

You will complete a minimum of 3 work placements within different businesses, with a varied product portfolio and customer base, gaining experience of all aspects of purchasing, negotiating, supplier analysis and management. 

The first year will be a detailed induction and training programme based within the Central Purchasing team and with some exposure to the Business Units.  The second and third years will be spent in a site buying management role; these placements could be at any of the sites across the UK.   You should reach a senior Purchasing role within 6-7 years.

The scheme consists of some off job skills development as well as on the job training, coaching and mentoring.  We will also support you to obtain the CIPS qualification.

You will be expecting, or will have attained, a 2:1 Business Studies degree or have experience in a Purchasing type function.
