Our client is a progressive and leading player in the food manufacture of Chilled Ready Meals into the Retail sector.  This is a rare opportunity to join their team in the role of Shift Engineering Manager, responsible for a team of six engineers on the day shift with further responsibility for a team of three Engineers on the night shift and the Site Services Team of five.

With a wide ranging skill base including electronic, mechanical and specialised knowledge, your remit will be to lead the Engineering team in the implementation of the site strategy that will ensure the Engineering function is effective, low cost, well motivated, flexible and continually adapts to changing circumstances whilst achieving and fulfilling the continuous cost release programme.

You will have the managerial skills to ensure a high performance culture, which encourages innovation and continuous improvement in a controlled environment and will positively influence the change management process, driving the engineering culture towards world-class performance.

Your duties will include monitoring the progress of plant performance and implement downtime reduction activities, continually develop and ensure that the planned maintenance procedures are correctly adhered to and completion targets are attained and provide technical expertise and engineering knowledge in resolving engineering problems.  You will also be heavily involved in the Site Project teams for any new engineering project.

You must be willing to be flexible in your approach to working hours and from time to time cover the night shift or deal effectively with any engineering emergencies occurring on the night shift.  You must have experience in a similar role within the food industry.

Working hours:  6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on a three on / three off basis.
