Nutricima is a high quality food manufacturer and distributor of dairy and nutritional products, based in Lagos, Nigeria - the company is a 50/50 joint venture between the Irish multinational Glanbia and the UK multinational PZ Cussons. The business has revenue of over USD 120 million, employs over 250 staff and has a world-class manufacturing plant which is just 3 years old. A further major new factory will be completed in Q4, 2008. Nutricima supplies evaporated milk and milk powder to the local Nigerian market. Glanbia brings in knowledge of the operation of world class food plants and food innovation, while PZ Cussons has over a century of experience in trading in Nigeria. For this international joint venture we are searching for a R&D Manager
Product innovation professional who is excited by a big international challenge in Nigeria

Position
- Responsible for developing and launching new products and facilitating the technical implementation in the Nutricima manufacturing units
- Connecting with the Marketing & Sales organization regarding business development, line extensions and new product development (NPD)
- Preparing, planning and realizing NPD projects, supported by the Glanbia Innovation Centre in Ireland
- Settting up and managing a local R&D team to assess and implement the various new product developments in the manufacturing units; working closely together with QA, Production and Engineering
- Steering the total NPD process, from early prototype development to final product and packaging specifications
- Provide a complete technical packaging service to Nutricima including new packaging development, material & vendor specification & selection, and quality control.
- Signing off the technical claims and nutritional data on the pack
- Reporting to the Marketing Director of Nutricima
Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology or a similar field
- Several years of work experience in developing new products and packagings, preferably in the FMCG / Food industry
- Experience with dairy products is preferred but not a must
- Challenged by applying relevant work experience in an international setting
- Strong communication skills with fluency in English and the ability to adapt quickly to the local culture
- Personal skills: self starter, analytic, creative mind, pragmatic, dealing with ambiguity, drive for results, integrity and team play
